There is a mantra in the start-up community that it is OK to fail. Many entrepreneurs have made a cottage industry of telling creators this very thing. On a more personal level you have to ask: But what happens when you do? Listen as a young man describes his journey.

During my podcast chat with Allen Screen of the blog EntrepreLoser, while still struggling Allen 3with a serious cold, I found myself drifting off to a time when I was his age and marveled at his ambition. I listened as he describes giving his all to a failing venture and experienced his sadness when the happy ending did not come. But what amazed me about this young man was his ability to bounce back and in the process figure out for himself and now with his blog for others what went wrong and how to prepare for round two.

The younger generation often gets labeled as slackers; listening to Allen I realized that some are not that different from the previous generation, they simply have more tools in the form of smart phones and social media. More than anything, Allen’s story is one of triumph over failure and in the classic entrepreneur mold learning from mistakes.
