Laurence O’Bryan has written three puzzle mysteries for Harper Collins, each new one more exciting than the last. He more than entertains in the current podcast episode as you listen to him describe how he creates the magic of the puzzles and introduces his new book “The Manhattan Puzzle”.

Manhattan puzzle 2

Listening to Laurence O’Bryan’s Dublin accent you’re enchanted by the lyric flow of words as he gives you a look into how his mind works. Just beneath the flow of words is the hint of a wry wit and also a gentle soul. Who would have thought that this facade Laurence OBryancould produce some of the most action packed and jolting mysteries from his now three part series the puzzle mysteries. And then he adds to the fun by saying “Things happen”.

His latest offering “The Manhattan Puzzle” picks up where he left off in his last novel “The Istanbul Puzzle”. It folds in current happenings of the day with banks and the financial crisis and a twist that there is something going on in Manhattan that goes back to the time when Native Americans owned the island. Things move dramatically from there.

His website Books Go Social is a tip of the hat to all the years he struggled to get published and allows him to feature other writers at various stages in the process. What comes through on the site is a pure love of writing in all its forms, and demonstrates that with the simple but compelling “first page preview”. There you encounter only words on a page that allows you to decide if your interest has been captured and if you want to read more…

I’ve said before that the thing I love most about podcasting and blogging is getting to interview some very interesting people, and I happily add Laurence O’Bryan to that list. By all means listen to the interview and prepare yourself for an adventure. I say that because “Things happen!”
